The siblings Mareike (Andrea Sawatzki), Dietrich (Simon Schwarz) and Felicitas Reber (Jule Böwe) can hardly believe their eyes as their long-lost father Xaver (Branko Samarovski) suddenly appears at the door. Penniless, no pension, no health insurance. Returning after a 50-year absence—presumably in Argentina—with nothing more than a toothbrush to his name. Attempts to offload him to the social services or a retirement home and leave him at the motorway services are in vain, and the quick-witted Xaver gradually works his way through all his children's flats, turning their families, relationships and working lives upside down. Soon enough, the shortcomings in the siblings' own lives become apparent, and it doesn't take long before they realize that their free-range father is not their biggest problem….
