Polizeiruf 110 - Wie ist die Welt so stille

A middle-class housing estate. The Harms and their 26-year-old son are battered to death in their sleep. Tauber (Edgar Selge) and Obermaier (Michaela May) are confronted with a gruesome scene, but not with useful clues or witness statements, and not with a murder weapon. The prosecutors, the public and particularly the couple’s daughter Maren (Nadja Bobyleva), who, fortunately, was not home at the time of the crime, expect results fast. But it’s the investigators themselves who apply the most pressure. Initially, Tauber covers up his bewilderment with burning determination. But his extremely labile reaction to the coldblooded crime does not go unnoticed by Obermaier. She has to protect Tauber from himself. But the investigations strain her nerves too, and endanger her marriage.

...and because the crime was so shocking and because Edgar Selge and Michaela May are such terrific actors, one is spellbound by their internal martyrdom...
FRANKFURTER ALLGEMEINE ZEITUNG

The most perfect "Tatort" is still the Munich "Polzeiruf".
FRANKFURTER RUNDSCHAU

Alain Gsponer shot an outstanding Munich Polizeiruf 110... highly poetic cinematography and music turn this film into an aesthetic pleasure, in keeping with the line in Matthias Claudius's "Abendlied".
